Banjo tuned G, Key E, no capo
Moderate tempo
E A
A nice summer day, in a small western town
E
The Madam was in the casket in her fiery red gown
B7
The other girls are following showing their hurt
E
Carriage wheels squeaking, crushing stones in the red dirt
The banker's conscience gets to him,
So he steps in the line
Then the blacksmith, the doctor, barber, grocer and baker
The parson and then the undertaker
They all show their respect
Forthe Madam in the fiery red gown
Going down that street the crowd grew in size
Till it must have been every man in town
And when it was over
And the carriage was put away
Doors closed on all the family homes
Discussions that took, I wouldn't want to say
The Madam was gone
To some it was a relief
Others covered their thoughts
At a final test of their own belief
Such was the way, the W***e's Funeral went down
On a nice summer day, in a small western town
